Last update:June 29, 2004

This specification covers the following information regarding SMA numbering scheme and usage:

I. SMA Part Number Notes regarding the eight(8) antennas.
II. SMA Part Number Scheme
III. Special Part Numbers Assigned for Bill-of-Material Use and Control

I. SMA Part Number Notes regarding the eight (8) antennas.

The SMA systems identification number for each antenna is as follows:

101XXXX001X - SAO/SMA Antenna #1
101XXXX002X - SAO/SMA Antenna #2
101XXXX003X - SAO/SMA Antenna #3
101XXXX004X - SAO/SMA Antenna #4
101XXXX005X - SAO/SMA Antenna #5
101XXXX006X - SAO/SMA Antenna #6
101XXXX007X - ASIAA/SMA Antenna #7
101XXXX008X - ASIAA/SMA Antenna #8

II. SMA Part Number Scheme:

1. The SMA part number consist of thirteen (13) characters.

2. The first eleven (11) characters represent the BASE number for a dedicated part and are in numeric format. The last two (2) characters represent the REVISION of the part.

1 23 4567 890A XX

1 = DEPARTMENT

1 = Hardware
2 = Software/Firmware
3 = Test
4 = Specification

23 = CATEGORY

    See "Category Definitions for Hardware".
    See "Category Definitions for Software/Firmware".
    See "Category Definitions for Specifications".

4567 = BASE

    Sequential assigned per designated area for Categories 00 to 10:

890 = VALUE: Version (Tables)

-Determine the value or define the "table" of a part.
-Default "0000".

For example:
A PCB Assembly may have several different assemblies using the same board.

    10218090010 PCB Version #1 DWG (Drawing)
    10218090011 PCB Version #1 BOM (Bill-of-Material)
    10218090012 PCB Version #1 SCH (Schematic)
    10218090003 PCB Version #1 PCB (Fab Board)
    10218090004 PCB Version #1 NET (Schematic Net List)
    10218090005 PCB Version #1 PCB (PCB Files/PADS)
    10218090006 PCB Version #1 BOD (Board Outline Drawing if applicable)
    10218090020 PCB Version #2 DWG (Drawing)
    10218090021 PCB Version #2 BOM (Bill-of-Material)
    10218090022 PCB Version #2 SCH (Schematic)
    10218090003 PCB Version #2 PCB (Fab Board)
    10218090004 PCB Version #2 NET (Schematic Net List)
    10218090005 PCB Version #2 PCB (PCB Files/PADS)
    10218090006 PCB Version #2 BOD (Board Outline Drawing if applicable)
A = VALUE: Type of Document
-Defines the document type (i.e.:Assy Dwg/Bill-of-Material/Schematic).
-Default "0000".

XX = REVISION LEVEL

"00" = Part Number Assigned
"01" thru "99" = Preliminary Document
"0A" thru "ZZ" = Controlled/Released Document

CATEGORY DEFINITIONS for HARDWARE

III. Special Part Numbers Assigned for Bill-of-Material Use and Engineering Change Orders
For Bills-of-Material/Parts List:
PART NUMBER     TITLE
TBA             SEE DESIGN ENGINEER
'TBA' (To Be Assigned) should be used for line items within a BOM not yet defined by the design engineer.
PART NUMBER     TITLE
NOT_USED        ITEM_INTENTIONALLY_LEFT_BLANK
'NOT_USED' should be used for line items within a BOM that are no longer used. All line items within a BOM must be identified with a part number and in sequential order (e.g.: 1,2,3, ...).
PART NUMBER     TITLE
SEE_REF_DESG    SEE NOTES IN REFERENCE DESIGNATOR
'SEE_REF_DESG' should be used for line items within a BOM that do NOT require a specific SMA Part Number. For example, 'glue' or other overhead material. The 'Reference Designator' field should be used to clarify any instructions or material (along with any notes on the assembly drawing).
For Engineering Change Orders:
PART NUMBER     TITLE
SEVERAL         SEE "DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE" PER ECO
'SEVERAL' can be used as the primary part number for a single ECO. The ECO must list all part numbers affected by the change in the 'Descripton of Change' section of the ECO. NOTE: The ECO must reflect the same change for all parts in fit, form and/or function.
